Almox 500 Capsule is used for Bacterial infection, Bacterial infections, Bacterial infections of the urinary tract, Bacterial infections of gums, Bacterial infections of ear, Sinusitis, Parathyroid fever, Bacterial infections of skin, Tonsillitis, Bacterial infections of respiratory tract and other conditions. Almox 500 Capsule may also be used for purposes not listed in this medication guide.Almox 500 Capsule contains Amoxycillin as an active ingredient.Almox 500 Capsule works by inhibiting the production of bacterial cell wall.
What is Amoxicillin for:
Amoxicillin is used to stop or treat certain bacterial infections, such as infections of the ears, nose, throat, urinary tract and skin.
How does Amoxicillin work:
It is a penicillin like antibiotic and works by stopping the growth of bacteria.
How should Amoxicillin be used:
To gain the most benefit, do not miss doses. Use as you have been told, even if you are feeling better. Take with or without food. Take with food if it causes an upset stomach. Chewable tablet: Chew or crush well. Mix crushed tablet with food. Do not swallow it whole. Extended release tablet: Take with food. Swallow tablet whole. Do not chew, crush, or break. Tablet for suspension: Mix the tablet in 2 teaspoons (10 mL) of water. Do not chew or swallow the tablet whole. There is a liquid (suspension) if you cannot swallow pills. Shake well before use. Those who have feeding tubes may also use the liquid. Flush the feeding tube before and after this drug is given. You may crush the tablet, melt it in water, and mix it with chocolate milk, milk, or pudding.
Common side effects of Amoxicillin :
Upset stomach or throwing up. Many small meals, good mouth care, sucking hard, sugar-free candy, or chewing sugar-free gum may help. Loose stools (diarrhea). Yogurt or probiotics may help. You may get these products at health food stores or in some pharmacies. For women, vaginal yeast infection. Report itching or discharge.
What do I do if I miss a dose
Take a missed dose as soon as you think about it. - If it is close to the time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your normal time. - Do not take 2 doses at the same time or extra doses. - Do not change the dose or stop this drug. - Talk with the doctor.
What precautions should I take when taking Amoxicillin :
If you have an allergy to amoxicillin, any penicillin, or any other part of this drug. Tell your doctor if you are allergic to any drugs. Make sure to tell about the allergy and what signs you had. This includes telling about rash; hives; itching; shortness of breath; wheezing; cough; swelling of face, lips, tongue, or throat; or any other signs.
When do I need to seek medical help
If you think there was an overdose, call your local poison control center or ER right away. Signs of a very bad reaction to the drug. These include wheezing; chest tightness; fever; itching; bad cough; blue or gray skin color; seizures; or swelling of face, lips, tongue, or throat. Very upset stomach or throwing up. Very loose stools (diarrhea), even after drug is stopped. Any bruising or bleeding. Any rash. Side effect or health problem is not better or you are feeling worse.
Can I take Amoxicillin with other medicines:
Sometimes drugs are not safe when you take them with certain other drugs and food. - Taking them together can cause bad side effects. - Be sure to talk to your doctor about all the drugs you take.
